Urgent veterinary help in Spain
Breathing difficulty, collapse, seizures, serious injury or suspected poisoning: call an emergency vet immediately. Do not wait for symptoms after a possible toxic exposure.
- Search for “urgencias veterinarias” plus your town or island, or call your usual clinic for its out-of-hours instructions. A provincial Colegio de Veterinarios may publish local contacts.
- Telephone the receiving clinic: confirm the address, that a vet is available and that it can receive your dog now. Search listings and advertised opening hours are not live verification.
- Describe symptoms, what happened and when; take the product packaging or a safe photograph if readily available. Do not induce vomiting or give medicines, salt, peroxide, charcoal or other home treatments without veterinary instructions.
Toxicology information — not a veterinary emergency helpline
Servicio de Información Toxicológica (SIT): +34 91 562 04 20, 24 hours. This general poison information service is staffed by medical toxicology professionals, not an animal emergency clinic. Explicitly say the exposure concerns a dog; animal-specific advice is not guaranteed. It does not replace or justify delaying veterinary assessment. Urgent SIT enquiries are by telephone, not email.
