Owner resilience and home health
Cleaning products: ingestion, skin and eye exposure
Prevent access to concentrated products and respond without household remedies.
Household products differ
Bleach, detergents, disinfectants, dishwasher products, laundry capsules, drain and oven cleaners can irritate or burn; some affect breathing after exposure. Concentrates and capsules need secure storage. A diluted product used as labelled is different from chewing its container, but every exposure still needs product-specific assessment.
Separate cleaning from dog access
Keep dogs away during use and follow ventilation, dilution and drying/rinsing instructions. Do not mix chemicals. Store in original labelled containers, not drinks bottles, and prevent drinking from buckets or licking wet floors.
Contact professional help
Remove access without exposing yourself. Call the vet with product details, route of exposure and symptoms; ask for immediate skin/eye first-aid instructions. Do not neutralise chemicals, induce vomiting or put household products into the eyes/mouth. Breathing problems, severe burns or collapse needs emergency care.

Evidence and review
Owner information, not diagnosis, an individual dose or personal legal advice. Follow the treating veterinary team’s plan. Legal, medicine-supply and poison-service statements apply only to the labelled jurisdiction; general care principles do not establish local rules.
