Returning home or moving again
Check the next border afresh
Admission to one country does not establish eligibility for another. Before a return or onward move, check departure rules, transit, destination, current residence, chip records, vaccination continuity and all recent travel. Keep evidence of earlier titre tests and dates abroad. Visiting a higher-risk country can change the pathway even when you fly home through a low-risk country.
Great Britain and Northern Ireland are different pathways
For Great Britain, check accepted documents for the departure country, approved routes and any tapeworm treatment. Do not assume an old AHC or a passport issued before moving remains valid indefinitely. For Northern Ireland, use DAERA guidance, including residence and any onward EU travel. A GB-to-NI scheme document is not an EU travel document.
EU onward travel and later departures
Ask a local authorised vet about EU passport eligibility once resident. Current EU passport rules consider the owner’s residence; language or nationality alone does not establish entitlement. Maintain valid rabies cover. For a future non-EU journey, establish re-entry conditions before departure, including whether a titre must already be recorded. Use the new destination’s official rules for North America or elsewhere.
