A concise explanation of how Head & Paws handles website usage information and enquiries.

Who is responsible?

Luke Allan, the owner and operator of Head & Paws, is the data controller responsible for personal information handled in connection with this website. Questions may be sent to admin@headandpaws.co.uk.

Information we receive

This website does not currently provide accounts, online ordering or contact forms. If you choose to accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics will provide aggregated information about visits, pages viewed, broad device and browser information, and how visitors reached the website. With analytics consent, we also measure when an English travel plan is successfully generated or its print button is used. Only fixed action labels are sent; your journey selections and answers are not sent with these events. With analytics consent, we may retain restricted campaign labels in the page address supplied to Google Analytics so we can understand how people reached the website. Campaign labels must not contain personal information. Other query fields and page fragments are excluded from that supplied page address. If you email us, we will receive the information you choose to include, together with your email address and relevant message details.

How it may be used

Analytics information is used with your consent to understand how the website performs and improve its content. Enquiry information is used to respond to messages, consider corrections and maintain relevant correspondence, relying on legitimate interests in running and improving this non-commercial information resource. Information will not be sold.

Retention and sharing

Enquiry information will be retained only for as long as reasonably required for the enquiry, related correspondence and applicable legal obligations. Information may be processed by service providers supporting email, website hosting and, where consent has been given, Google Analytics, or disclosed where legally required.

Your rights

Subject to applicable data-protection law, you may have rights concerning access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection and data portability. You may withdraw analytics consent at any time using the Cookie settings button. You may also raise a concern with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.

Cookies

Essential hosting and security technologies may be used to deliver and protect the service. The website also offers optional Google Analytics cookies, normally named _ga and _ga_<container-id>, to distinguish visits and produce website statistics. These may remain for up to two years unless removed sooner.

Analytics is switched off by default. Google Analytics is loaded only after you select “Accept analytics”. Selecting “Reject analytics” will not affect access to the website. Your preference is stored on your device so it can be respected on later visits, and you can change it at any time through Cookie settings.

Advertising personalisation and Google signals are disabled in this implementation. Further information is available in Google’s privacy policy.

Country preference

Your country selection is carried in page links and, where available, saved in your browser’s local storage under head-and-paws-guidance-country. This functional preference does not enable analytics. Use the country control to change it, or clear this site’s stored data to remove it.

Location and privacy

Near You asks for browser location only after a click and permission. Precise coordinates are used in page memory to suggest a broad region and are not stored by Head & Paws, transmitted to our servers or supplied to analytics. No external geocoding service is called by the site. The browser or operating system may use its own location provider. The suggestion can be wrong near borders or coasts; choose manually at any time. Country preference uses the existing functional storage; a chosen broad region may be carried in the page fragment. Analytics consent remains separate. We do not send region selections or location events to Google Analytics. The page address supplied by our website for analytics contains the page path and may retain the recognised campaign fields utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_content, utm_term and utm_id when they meet our restricted format. Other query fields and page fragments are excluded from that page address. Journey answers are not included in our custom travel events.

News preferences and measurement

If you select a News location, your requested display preference is stored on this device until you reset it or clear browser data. It is not a GPS position and is not sent as an analytics event parameter. With analytics consent, fixed English News action labels measure sharing, internal navigation, original-source links, and use of location and language controls. These events do not include the selected country, shared URL or free text.

Country preferences

Your explicit choice takes priority over approximate country information supplied by the hosting service. We do not request device location or send your location to a separate geolocation service. Unknown locations use the UK default. A first-party functional cookie (hp_country, up to one year) remembers your choice; an existing browser preference may also be retained locally. It does not enable analytics. Change country using Language / country, or clear site data to remove the preference. Language remains independently selected.
