Safe observations and immediate action
Use gentle, steady pressure with a clean cloth on an accessible external wound while arranging urgent help. Do not remove embedded objects or improvise a tourniquet. Protect yourself from bites.
What to avoid
Do not give human medicines, leftover prescriptions or another animal’s treatment. Do not change prescribed treatment without veterinary advice. Do not force food or water into a distressed dog.
